Purpose of Role

Working within the Logistics and Supply Chain team, this role requires supporting the Packaging Supply Manager in the development of dry materials by following established new product development policies and procedures.  This role requires further assist the Packaging Technologist in the design, development, and manufacture of packaging products for New Product Development and ongoing packaging updates to current presentations.  Ensuring there is full compliance with the company innovation process SPARK.  

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Complete small-scale projects for minor label amendments and single casks in line with internal procedures and sustainability and environmental guidelines, ensuring approval and legal compliance of artwork.
  • Ensure packaging is suitable for the purpose by completing all required trials and testing as per internal procedures and documenting results of these.
  • Provide support on all packaging development activities
  • Assist in the analysis of current packaging with a view to implementing more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives.
  • Manage and control Packaging specifications agreed with suppliers, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose (for Consumer, Customer, Manufacturing, Logistics) and maintaining the storage of these in the online file system
  • Update and create material master data and bills of materials in the SAP system.
  • Liaise with the relevant departments on Packaging developments or packaging design including - Marketing, Purchasing, Production, Customer services, and external suppliers
  • Problem-solving – to help resolve packaging issues/problems that arise.
  • Involvement in value analysis activities.

  • Ensure packaging waste compliance.

 

Scope of Role

The role is primarily focused on Inver House packaging supply process. However, the job holder is expected to provide ad hoc support across Inver House operations as required.
 

Working Conditions

  • The working hours will be 34 hours per week, standard hours are 08:30 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday and 08:30 – 12:30 on a Friday.
  • Required to work additional hours as necessitated by the needs of the business.

 

Personal Profile

  • A degree or 1-2 years experience in packaging development would be desirable, however not essential as training will be provided.
  • PC Literate.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and on their own initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Calm under pressure, enthusiastic, and demonstrates a “can do” attitude

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

 

  • A packaging or quality qualification would be preferred but not essential.
  • It would be advantageous for the candidate to work towards completing the certification of the Institute of Packaging (IOP).
  • Further education qualification (degree / diploma) in an appropriate technical or scientific subject.
  • Full (clean) driving Licence.
  • Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a stage-gate process would be advantageous.
